Project!

Sorry we are bad bad lazy people, who don't get around to blogging as much as we should. But don't worry, we regularly discuss new posts, and still don't do it ;) Lately we've both been in love with applique on t-shirts, especially for wee ones. It is such an easy and inexpensive gift or way to personalize your kids clothes. I love how it looks like a boutique purchase, even though you got the shirt for $2.50 at WalMart! So here you go!

HOW TO: It is pretty basic really! You can use a fusible web, an interfacing at most fabric stores (directions are on it) or freezer paper and applique glue. Stitching depends on the look you want, straight or zig-zag. If you want little or no fray, you can turn your edges in and/or use a zig-zag right on the edge of the design and shirt. For the twin tree onsies I wanted a lot of fray so I used freezer paper to get the perfect circle, glue to keep in place (NEVER pins, ugh!) and stitched a straight line about 1/4-1/2 inch in, snipped around the edges and washed!

For designs, I usually get ideas from my favorite stores and sketch them myself. The skull and bones were from my sons sippy cup!

The blankets seen with two are so simple, the size doesn't matter it can be a burp cloth to a blanket, and you throw ribbons of all shapes and sizes around the outside for the wee one to fiddle with, and it's a perfect gift!

cute nummy pumpkins

Hi all, these cute pumpkins are edible, super easy to make and fun for the kids. Just get 1 bag Peanut butter chips, one store bought vanilla frosting, stick pretzels, oreos and some orange food coloring (not the liquid, but gel coloring works best.) Melt the chips on low heat, once they are completely melted, take off the burner, then mix in the food coloring and the frosting. Put in the fridge for about an hour. While it is cooling in the fridge, crush the oreos, then place them in a cute platter. Once the mixture is cool, roll into 1" balls. Stick a peice of a pretzel in the tops, with a toothpick or knife draw the lines in the pumpkin. Place in the dirt. Done. Cute and fun. I did make a frosting mixture and turned it green and added the green to the top, this doesn't need to be done, but makes a nice finishing touch. Have fun!

My purdy roses...

Just wanted to post a pic of my pretty garden flowers. I saw them out back in my weedy (is that a word) flower bed. And I thought thy would look much prettier in my home on my table. So I asked my mommy if that was acceptable (I still need my mother's approval on basic things) and she told me yes I should! So we went and chopped several of the roses. My five year old Addie finished chopping off the rest of the roses later in the afternoon, (of course not bothering to ask me for approval!) So my flower bushes outside are ugly, but this vase in my table is very cute!

Christmas Quilt Patterns are here!

We did it...again! We've designed, written and finished our Christmas patterns! Deck the Halls is made with Moda's Merry and Bright Christmas fabrics. It has three adorable ornaments hanging from the top and we kinda love it! We also finished Oh Christmas Tree and you can personalize it with a cute monogram! These are both great patterns, because they have applique and piecing but are pretty easy to make, we think! We're once again debuting them in Material Girls Quilts in South Jordan, Utah. And, while our site is under construction, we are setting up an Etsy shop to make them available for purchase online. Thanks for looking, we hope you LOVE!

New Christmas Quilts

So we are quickly working on some FABULOUS new Christmas patterns that will be ready just in time to make them for this year! Heather is working on a great fabric line, Mackenzie Christmas by Anna Grifin, it is just gorgeous and her quilt, I've seen the sketches, will be just as gorgeous! I am currently cutting and piecing away on , Merry & Bright by Sandy Gervais, and it is going to be an adorable quilt as well!! So please, keep posted, we will have the patterns here as soon as possible. We are hoping that they will both be available for purchase as patterns AND kits at Material Girls Quilts

It's almost here!

We are just days away now from premiering all our new stuff and we are so excited! We will be launching about 5 new quilts at Material Girls in South Jordan, Utah. There is a lot to do between now and then, but we are feeling confident and excited to see the reaction to our quilts! We hope you all love them.
