Happy Baptism quilt

This is the baptism quilt I finished up for my 8 year old Rylee. She doesn't appreciate it yet, but I imagine when I am gone from this dear earth, she will curl up with it and bawl about missing me, while looking through the pages and pages of scrapbooks I made her. (She better, or I will haunt her!)

My Rylee was baptised in October. I took her to the quilt store and had her pick out her favorite fabrics. (I had to guide her a little, or we may have horse heads, lollypops and vintage toys.)
Then we both sketched and I let her pick her favorite sketch.
I LOVE the bright colors she picked out. All this applique is turn under, I can't help myself...
ahhh, so tender, her handprints...
and a baptism outfit, bootcut low rise. (and her real outfit looked almost like this )

She really did pick all these prints, I just omitted about 3 that really didn't go at all...
And backed in some snuggly delicious minky. I hope you all like :)

  5. Absolutely irresistibly GORGEOUS! I can NOT quilt, although I would love to since one of my favorite things in the world are patchwork quilts. The fabrics she chose are divine. I love everything about this, seriously. Amazing. (p.s. She WILL sit wrapped up and bawling in it someday when you're gone. I do with my Mom's quilt)

  7. My gma did a beautiful (to us) quilt for me before I moved into the dorm a few years ago. I picked my favorite non-matchy, uncoordinated, basically a hodge-podge of different scraps and it is my abosolute fav! I never had a "blankie" as a kid, but I sleep with that quilt on my bed every night--and I'm married now! She made a nice, color-coordinated one for my hubs as a gift when we dated and now they're both on our bed.

  9. Oh my goodness. This is adorable. The fabric is cute, but the personal touches, like the name and baptism outfit make this so unique. I'm sure she will treasure it so you won't have to haunt her! I wish I did this for my oldest who was baptized a year ago.

  14. I love it! I wish that I could quilt. If I can't hot glue it, forget it.
You should hang it on her wall in her bedroom. That way she could enjoy it and not ruin it! Super cute! I am digging her baptism outfit-too cute! Your gift makes my gift that I am going to make for my 8 year old look LAME! Thanks for the inspiration! you rock!!
