This is the baptism quilt I finished up for my 8 year old Rylee. She doesn't appreciate it yet, but I imagine when I am gone from this dear earth, she will curl up with it and bawl about missing me, while looking through the pages and pages of scrapbooks I made her. (She better, or I will haunt her!)
My Rylee was baptised in October. I took her to the quilt store and had her pick out her favorite fabrics. (I had to guide her a little, or we may have horse heads, lollypops and vintage toys.)Then we both sketched and I let her pick her favorite sketch.
I LOVE the bright colors she picked out. All this applique is turn under, I can't help myself...
ahhh, so tender, her handprints...
and a baptism outfit, bootcut low rise. (and her real outfit looked almost like this )
She really did pick all these prints, I just omitted about 3 that really didn't go at all...
And backed in some snuggly delicious minky. I hope you all like :)
PS Partying with A Soft Place to Land, The Girl Creative, Made by you Mondays, It's so Very Cheri, Reinvented, We are THAT family, Blue Cricket Design, Finding Fabulous , AmyLouWho, and
The quilt is beautiful. I am sure she will cherish it for years to come.
ReplyDeleteH it turned out gorgeous!! I L-O-V-E it. And I adore the colors, tell Rylee she did a great job :) PS that minky is to die for...

ReplyDeletewow, that's AWESOME!
ReplyDeletedid you make the white outfit, too?!
Absolutely irresistibly GORGEOUS! I can NOT quilt, although I would love to since one of my favorite things in the world are patchwork quilts. The fabrics she chose are divine. I love everything about this, seriously. Amazing. (p.s. She WILL sit wrapped up and bawling in it someday when you're gone. I do with my Mom's quilt)
ReplyDeleteIt is one BEAUTIFUL quilt, and the colors are great! She did do a great job picking out, and she will cherish the trip to the quilt store and the time with you, Too!
ReplyDeleteMy gma did a beautiful (to us) quilt for me before I moved into the dorm a few years ago. I picked my favorite non-matchy, uncoordinated, basically a hodge-podge of different scraps and it is my abosolute fav! I never had a "blankie" as a kid, but I sleep with that quilt on my bed every night--and I'm married now! She made a nice, color-coordinated one for my hubs as a gift when we dated and now they're both on our bed.
ReplyDeleteGORGE!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I so want to start quilting.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. This is adorable. The fabric is cute, but the personal touches, like the name and baptism outfit make this so unique. I'm sure she will treasure it so you won't have to haunt her! I wish I did this for my oldest who was baptized a year ago.
ReplyDeleteOh, what a PRECIOUS and priceless treasure. You did an amazing job! Great way to capture a great day.
