Baby Blocks

These are baby blocks I've started making as little gifts. Aren't they fab? It's made of six 5" squares, with ribbons in between four of them. There is a bag in the middle of this one so it will crinkle when she plays with it. I always want my kids to be playing with adorable toys, although inevitably they end up being plastic, bright, obnoxious, because that's what they love...but they can have a few sweet toys as babies right? My son loves balls, any kind of ball, and I've seen some crochet ones maybe I'll venture into making for him so they're "cute" balls. What kinds of toys are your kids loving, whether cute or ugly?

Cute Dresses I made!

I have been in such a creative mood lately! (I believe my nesting comes in the form of creating or finishing projects...Oh well, if that what happens, it is just natural right? I should be cleaning and going through closets, but my body says craft..craft...craft....) For those of you who don't know, I am pregnant with my fifth and final, and we are having a boy! (we have 4 daughters!)... Anyhow, this is what I got done, and I LOVE them!

Nadine from Material girls was offering this Free Spirit Darla line for 33% off, and I went and bought tons! I have been wanting some, but when she had the sale, I had to go get lots and lots! Hopefully you will see alot of crafts from this fabric...

This is the Claire Peasant Dress from Sandi Henderson. LOVE IT! I was SO scared of the shirring, but it is SUPER easy and worked way better than I thought. If you are scared of it, don't be. Sandi has a great tutorial on her website http://www.portabellopixie.typepad.com/

But how much cuter is it with this silly girl in it???

Sophie's crib...

Here is Sophie's crib. Dallan spray painted it, and the chandelier. This nursery took us several months, but it is officially finished!!! Sophie's nursery is done! this is one GIANT craft project, nearly everything in here I made myself or with the help of others. Here is the full photo...

The cute chandelier was a gift from Mommy, and I spray painted it pink, it makes a huge difference in the room, I want one for all my girls. The photos on the wall I took myself, I made the toole canopy with a hoola hoop and Sophie's left over bedding fabric.

I made all the Bedding (minus the sheet) Dallan's mom made the crib skirt, Dallan and I painted the crib pink. The perfect rug is from Costco (only $50).

Dallan and I did the wallpaper and trim. I have never heard so many cuss words come out of my sweet husband's mouth!


My Mommy made all these pillows from my left over quilt fabric. Bless her heart. I would never have done them. I was so burned out on the Sophie quilt that I finished a month before she was born...as fast as I could!

Here is Sophie's quilt, it is still my favorite quilt I have ever made, thus far... but I LOVE everything about it. I want to keep it away from her so she doesn't ruin it, but I let her sleep with it because she looks so cute in her crib with it...

My Mommy and I made this window treatment for Addison, but when I did Sophie's bedroom, it matched perfectly with the wallpaper. So I kept it for Soph.

The very last detail, this lamp. Megan and I went crazy making these roses out of coffee filters. (I know you all think I must have tons of spare time on my hands) Anyhow, I loved how it turned out. Here is the link to the instructions we used from Martha Stewart.

Hope you all like this room. Lots of hours, blood, sweat and tears went into finishing it.

One Favorite tool...

Okay, we LOVE Roxanne's Glue-Baste-it. It is perfect for all the applique we do. While appliqueing quilts and shirts, this glue makes it so easy! Especially all those small pieces. It sticks great, but washes out without any problems. So you don't need to secure your pieces with a ton of pins, and then have to work around them on your sewing machine. We definitely love this! Also, that cute jar that my ric rac is in, is from Making Memories. It looks like a cute canning jar, but it is plastic. They come in all sorts of sizes, and it is so easy to see all the embellishments you have for all your crafting projects.

Memory Box

You know the butter cookie tins from the holidays? Well my mom learned from her mom that they make great storage, and she's right! Of course, I had to spruce it up a bit...We LOVE modge Podge...and This is the year is having a modge podge party, check her out...Materials: Mod Podge, foam brush, cute fabric, fusible web (to make the letters stiff and easier to cut) and cute tiny baby memorabilia. Inside I have my newborn Ollie's little memories started. Many more to come...

Car seat cover!

Hi all, this is an older craft, but one that should be blogged about. My mom and I made a custom car seat cover when I had Sophie a year and a half ago. It was the biggest pain in the a$$, but turned out dang cute. It took my mom and I seven hours together! (don't I have the nicest mommy?) now I know why people charge over $200 for custom covers online. I wish this could be a tutorial, but I don't even think I could do it again. I recommend paying someone, or at least find a pattern.

Valentine's Day

I am the MUCH less fabulous sister, I wish the post below was MY craft room, or that I even had a craft room...or a laundry room for that matter. Don't look too closely at my pictures or you will see the carpet of the 70's, an accordian door the span of my kitchen and if you're lucky you will see the first stove off the assembly line.

I have just been sitting around with nothing to do so I thought I'd create some fabulous Valentine's Decor! Okay, not entirely true...I just had my second baby, bills are piling, laundry to be done, things to be cleaned...an excellent time for a very unnecessary craft! But that is my MO, whatya gonna do?

Since I don't have money, as demonstrated in paragraph one, a fab friend Sara suggested felt. So here are some really easy and cute Valentines decorations anyone can do!

But this little banner turned out pretty cute, if I say so myself. I used fusible web to attach the letters, but also sewed around them. I strung a ribbon through each side of the heart, as you can see. This banner goes up the railing of my stairs.

A little Sneak peak!

Okay, we apoligize for being crappy blogging girls! We know nobody will ever come here if we post once a month. So from here on out you will get at least one post a week. PROMISE! Anyhow, I just wanted to show a quick sneak peak of my craft room (I tried to call it my studio, but just couldn't do it!). This chandelier I stole from my sis in laws wedding, sprayed it black and added crystals. Cute? The shelves in the background involve a fabulous husband, but I will get to those when I get them loaded up and organized cute. I painted the walls a taupey pink, some might call that color mauve, but I refuse to use that word unless it is 1998! So we will go with taupey pink. They turned out fab, but it did involve 3 retints at home depot because I was so afraid of having a "pink" room right off the kitchen. And yes, the most fabulous part of all is that this room is right off the kitchen! Is that not every girls dream??? I had to wait several years for this, but it is finally a reality, and it is about a month from being able to show everyone the whole room! So hope this is good enough for now.

Project!

Sorry we are bad bad lazy people, who don't get around to blogging as much as we should. But don't worry, we regularly discuss new posts, and still don't do it ;) Lately we've both been in love with applique on t-shirts, especially for wee ones. It is such an easy and inexpensive gift or way to personalize your kids clothes. I love how it looks like a boutique purchase, even though you got the shirt for $2.50 at WalMart! So here you go!

HOW TO: It is pretty basic really! You can use a fusible web, an interfacing at most fabric stores (directions are on it) or freezer paper and applique glue. Stitching depends on the look you want, straight or zig-zag. If you want little or no fray, you can turn your edges in and/or use a zig-zag right on the edge of the design and shirt. For the twin tree onsies I wanted a lot of fray so I used freezer paper to get the perfect circle, glue to keep in place (NEVER pins, ugh!) and stitched a straight line about 1/4-1/2 inch in, snipped around the edges and washed!

For designs, I usually get ideas from my favorite stores and sketch them myself. The skull and bones were from my sons sippy cup!

The blankets seen with two are so simple, the size doesn't matter it can be a burp cloth to a blanket, and you throw ribbons of all shapes and sizes around the outside for the wee one to fiddle with, and it's a perfect gift!
